It does NOT provide information on how to build a bootable CD from the ground up, at least, not in any step-by-step method, but more as an academic discussion of the boot process. This has been a book that I have enjoyed for more years than I can recall. I also discovered lots of useful facts about slugs. But as great as the plotline was, it's the characters are what make the story, particular Ginn, Rushmere, and Caleb. Don't let the size (725 pages) scare you. The entire collection was compiled and edited by Master Feng Meng Long during the Ming Dynasty (AD 1368-1644).
