Why are there so few reviews for this outstanding book? It's gripping and fascinating. So many different aspects of the war that I was unaware of. The chapter on poison gas was especially shocking. J, so when I learned that he’d continued the saga of protagonist and anti-hero Phillip Rowlings, I couldn’t wait to read it. I don't know how Buchman does it, but he is very, very good at creating heroes who are nice guys, even a bit beta-ish, as this one is, but still thoroughly masculine and adorable. He has allowed me to dream, to want, to desire more than I have ever thought possible. Like so many others, they resulted to credit cards and loans to make ends meet. This wonderful book by Ruth Ann Spigiel tells the tale of this small dog with a big heart.
