Joe Connelly's book is about the hopeless decline of a New York ambulance driver's sanity. Maggie was intelligent but self centered and though their main focus seemed to be Maggie's inability to have a child, her character didn't possess the maturity to be a mother: same story with Chris. She and I are both really good at dialogue but could stand to do better at description - there are multiple parts in this book and the previous one where the characters seem to talk multiple paragraphs and it's not really described what the main character - Jess or Bells - is thinking/feeling at the time, and I would like more of what they are thinking/feeling. This was actually the first book I read about Anthony Sowell book and I thought it was a very good book.
